Trip editor
The trip editor corrects a trip's route, start, destination and times on a full-size map. Open it with Correct route in the trip details; it lives at /trip-editor/<trip id>.
Nothing is saved until you choose Save. Every edit can be undone until then.
Layout
- Map with the new route, and optional layers for the raw GPS track and the previous road route.
- Side panel with start and destination as a timeline (date, time and address with suggestions), the distance compared to before, duration and average speed, the number of GPS and placed points, the selected point, and a notice for the longest gap without GPS.
- Timeline below the map: shows when points were recorded and where GPS was missing.
- Bar with Discard / Save and a counter of unsaved changes.
On phones the side panel becomes a bottom sheet under the map.
Points
Each point records where it came from:
| Kind | Meaning |
|---|---|
| GPS (measured) | Recorded by the phone. Measured points keep their order; their times are used as anchors. |
| Placed | Added or moved by you in the editor. Placed points can be reordered among each other. |
| Generated | Created by the routing service to connect two points along the road. They are shown as the road route and are not edited directly. |
Map tools
- Select & move: drag a point to move it. A moved GPS point becomes a placed point. Clicking on the route inserts a new point there.
- Add point and Delete points.
- Undo / redo (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y) and Zoom to trip.
The selected point shows its time, position and the nearest place, with Make start and Remove point. Choosing an address for the start or destination moves the first or last point there.
Timeline and multiple selection
- Zoom with the scroll wheel or −/+ (up to 128×); Whole trip resets the view. Drag or scroll sideways to pan.
- Click selects a point, Shift+click a range, Ctrl+click adds or removes single points. ←/→ step through the points (Shift extends the selection); the map follows.
- Selected points are purple on the timeline and the map, connected by a purple line in their order, so back-and-forth jumps are easy to spot.
- Remove all selected points at once with the button or Del.
Route along the road
With Fill gaps along roads switched on, gaps of more than 250 m between points are routed along the road by the routing service, so every point you add steers the route. Sections where the route would turn around on a dual carriageway are routed again in the direction of travel.
| Button | Effect |
|---|---|
| Recalculate route | Discards the generated points and routes the gaps between your own points again. |
| Reset route | Deletes the generated road route and switches road filling off; points are connected directly. |
| Reset all | Additionally removes all placed points. GPS points stay; if fewer than two remain, the first and last placed point stay as start and destination. |
Road filling requires a routing service set up by the administrator (see geocoding).
Plausibility check
Check plausibility marks GPS points that make no sense in red and lists the reason:
| Reason | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Jump | The detour to this point would need more than 250 km/h. |
| Spike | The point is far off the route and the next one comes straight back. |
| Time inconsistent | The timestamp goes back by more than 2 seconds, or the same time appears at another position. |
| Inaccurate | The phone reported an accuracy worse than 150 m and the point lies more than 75 m off the line between its neighbours. Poor accuracy alone is not flagged. |
| Jitter while stationary | Points of a cluster within 35 m that add at least 100 m of distance while standing still. |
Only measured points are checked; placed points and the trip's start and end are never marked. The check follows every edit. Remove all marked removes them in one step that can be undone.
Filling gaps from Dawarich
If you have connected Dawarich, Fill from Dawarich inserts its location points into gaps of the trip by time. In the editor they are an unsaved change like any other edit. Jump to gap shows the longest gap on the map.
Saving
Save replaces the trip's points, distributes times to new points by distance, recalculates distance and duration and queues map matching again. You stay in the editor, so you can save in between; a short Saved notice appears, and Cancel turns into Close while there are no unsaved changes.
Leaving with unsaved changes asks first; closing the browser tab warns as well. The change is recorded in the trip history. Trips in a closed period cannot be edited.
