Profile and preferences
Open your personal settings with Profile in the user menu. The page has three tabs: Personal settings, Units & formats and Backup & restore. Personal settings is divided into the sections below.
Profile
- Display name, username, e-mail address and time zone. The time zone is used for trips without a recorded zone and for "today" and month boundaries.
- Appearance: system setting, light or dark.
- Language: German or English; overrides the server's default language for your account.
- Home country and tax export: decides the PDF layout of the export.
Places
- Home location and an optional work location: used for commute detection and as the map centre when there are no trips yet. Addresses are stored as coordinates.
- Location recognition: how close a trip's start or destination must be to home or work to be recognized; 100–300 m is recommended.
- Saved places: customers, offices and frequent destinations. Their names appear in the trip list, and trips to them get category and purpose suggestions. New places can also be saved from the monthly report.
Tracking & map
- Tracking: automatic tracking, accuracy mode (high accuracy, balanced, battery saving), stop delay and whether to save the GPS accuracy – preferences for the Android app and automatic trip detection.
- Map style: OpenStreetMap (default), Light, Dark or Follow system (light or dark with the app's colour scheme). Applies to the dashboard and the trip editor.
- Route colours by trip category: optional custom colours for the routes on the map.
Map matching
Use map matching snaps your trips to the road network (details):
- On: every uploaded trip (from the app or a GPX import) is matched automatically, and the map shows the road route.
- Off: no automatic matching; only the GPS route is shown. Distances already applied stay as they are.
The switch is disabled if the administrator has not set up a map matching service.
Dawarich
If you run your own Dawarich instance, connect it to fill gaps in trips with its location data, for example when the system stopped the app.
- Enter the address of your Dawarich instance and the API key (in Dawarich under Account).
- Connect checks the key against Dawarich before saving. The key is stored encrypted.
After that, Fill gaps from Dawarich is available in the trip details and the trip editor. Gaps of at least 60 seconds without GPS are filled; Dawarich points less accurate than 200 m are skipped. Disconnect removes the connection; points already added are kept.
Notifications
Switch the monthly report e-mail on or off. The option is hidden if the server cannot send e-mail.
Security
See sign-in and security: password, two-factor authentication (TOTP), passkeys and linked Google or Microsoft accounts.
Devices
All devices and sessions signed in to your account, with Add new device to pair the Android app by QR code. Sign out single devices remotely.

These preferences only change how values are displayed; stored distances and odometer values stay the same. They belong to your account and also apply in the Android app.
Profile picture (Gravatar)
If a Gravatar exists for your e-mail address, it is shown as your profile picture in the web dashboard and the Android app; otherwise your initials are shown. A hash of your e-mail address is sent to Gravatar (Automattic Inc.), together with your IP address.
Switch it off with Use Gravatar. The option is not available if the administrator has disabled Gravatar for the server.
Backup & restore
Download personal backup creates a file with your profile, settings, vehicles, trips, GPS points, tags, archived data and audit history. Sign-in credentials – password hash, TOTP secret, passkeys, sessions and tokens – are never included. Use the file only to restore your own data: Restore personal backup first validates the file and then merges the records by ID. E-mail address, username, role, password, TOTP and passkeys stay unchanged.
