Welcome to Fahrtenbuch
Fahrtenbuch is a self-hosted vehicle trip log for recording GPS journeys, managing vehicles, reconciling odometer readings and creating a tax-ready logbook.
Fahrtenbuch consists of two parts:
- Server and web dashboard – the self-hosted backend you run with Docker. You host it yourself; there is no hosted service.
- Android app – records trips with GPS, starts automatically via Bluetooth and works on its own (local mode) or synced with your server.
Project website, live demo and privacy policy: fahrtenbuch.app.
This documentation describes server v0.6.11 (build 209) and Android app 0.5.4. It is written in English; the web dashboard and the app are available in German and English.
Highlights in v0.6
- Trip editor: correct routes on a full-size map – move, add and remove points, routing along the road, plausibility check, undo for every edit.
- Map matching: trips are snapped to the road network automatically and checked against the GPS track.
- Monthly report by e-mail and in the web app, with open trips and new places.
- Setup assistant for new installations and a first sign-in assistant for new users.
- Manual trips, removing single GPS points and filling gaps from Dawarich.
- Employer mileage reimbursement for business trips.
- Sign in with Google or Microsoft, also in the Android app.
