Vehicle costs (preview)
Vehicle costs are only enabled in the :dev image for now. In the :latest image the Costs page is hidden and the API answers 404 FEATURE_DISABLED. An administrator can override this with FEATURE_EXPENSES=true or false (see configuration).
The Costs page records fuel, charging and other costs per vehicle and evaluates them together with your logbook.
Recording costs
- Fuel/charge: date, amount (gross), quantity and unit, odometer, fuel type, full tank / fully charged, station.
- Add cost: other costs such as insurance, vehicle tax, maintenance, inspection, repair, tyres or lease payments. Costs covering a period (for example annual insurance) get a period from/to and are allocated to each year pro rata by day.
Costs are recorded by the vehicle owner. Co-drivers of a shared vehicle do not see them.
Evaluation
For the selected vehicle and year the page shows:
| Figure | How it is calculated |
|---|---|
| Total costs and costs by category | Sum of all entries in the year, period costs pro rata. |
| Cost per km | Total costs ÷ kilometres recorded in the logbook. |
| Average consumption | Full-tank method; needs two full fill-ups with odometer readings. |
| Cost share by trip type | Total costs split by the kilometres driven per trip type (business, private, commute, …). |
The cost share is a basis for the private share under the logbook method. It is not tax advice: depreciation and costs you did not record are not included.
CSV import (Spritmonitor)
CSV import reads cost files of up to 3 MB:
- Spritmonitor: sign in at spritmonitor.de, open your vehicle and export the fuelings or costs as CSV. Import each file separately; the columns are detected automatically.
- Other CSV files: map the columns yourself (date, amount, odometer, quantity, fill type, currency, vendor, note, cost type, …) and choose the date format and decimal separator.
A preview shows new entries, entries already present, invalid lines and notes before you import. Entries that are already present are skipped, so importing the same file twice does not create duplicates.
