Odometer readings

Odometer readings are the reference for your logbook: they show how far the vehicle really went, and the statistics compare that with the recorded trips.

Adding readings

Add a reading under Statistics › Add odometer reading with the date, optionally the exact time, and the odometer value. You can add readings for any day; several intermediate readings per month are possible. The order relative to earlier and later readings is checked, so a reading cannot be lower than an earlier one.

All readings of a vehicle are listed in the reading log, where you can also correct them.

Monthly reminder

If the reading for the past month is missing, the web dashboard asks for it when you open it. You can enter it right away or choose Remind me later.

Why readings matter

  • The difference between the change in odometer reading and the recorded trips is shown as unexplained kilometres. Short intervals between readings show more precisely when kilometres are missing.
  • Intermediate readings replace previously estimated trip kilometres in the contract forecast for leasing and financing.
  • The sum of recorded trips may differ slightly from the true odometer change, for example due to GPS gaps. Map matching narrows this gap.

Odometer readings and vehicle-wide statistics are only visible to the vehicle owner, not to co-drivers.
