This page summarizes all changes since v0.3.24, including the intermediate releases v0.3.25 to v0.3.27.

Special trip categories​

Trips can now get an optional special category as a second classification level next to the trip type (business, private, commute, unclassified):

  • medical, volunteering, education / studies, job application, moving, other

The special category does not change the tax meaning of the trip type. It can be set and removed in the dashboard and in the Android app, and you can filter the dashboard by it. CSV and PDF exports include it, and the export summary can be filtered by special category.

Time zone of each trip​

Every trip now stores the time zone in which it started and ended (IANA zone such as Europe/Berlin, so daylight saving time is applied per timestamp). Clients send the zone when starting and stopping a recording.

  • Trip times are shown in the local time of the trip, not in UTC or the time zone of the server.
  • Statistics, monthly totals and date filters are computed in the trip's local time as well.
  • Trips without a stored zone fall back to the account time zone.

Purpose, contact and notes​

Classifying a trip (PUT /trips/{id}/classify) can now also update purpose, contact and notes. The Android app uses this to edit these fields directly in the trip details.

Redesigned web dashboard​

The web interface has a new design across the app shell, login, dashboard, vehicles, statistics, export, compliance, profile and administration pages. Category labels are now consistent everywhere.

  • Account theme: the light or dark theme chosen in your account is applied in the web dashboard.
  • Password reset page: the link in the password-reset e-mail now opens a dedicated page in the web dashboard (/password-reset by default; PASSWORD_RESET_URL overrides it).
  • Statistics: monthly kilometres are shown as bars stacked by trip category, plus a hatched segment for kilometres that are covered by odometer readings but not by any trip. Hover for the breakdown, click a month for its details.

Fixes​

  • The dashboard overview map is no longer zoomed out to the whole world by a single stray GPS point; all routes are still drawn.
  • Fixed a stale map load handler and route framing next to the side panels.
  • Several dashboard bugs in the trip panels were fixed.
  • Share invitation and profile pages use local dates.

Upgrade​

Database migrations run automatically when the server starts. This release adds the special_category, start_timezone and end_timezone columns to trips; existing trips keep working and use the account time zone.

The changes are backwards compatible: older Android app versions keep working. To edit purpose, contact and notes and to record per-trip time zones from the phone, use Android app 0.4.3 or newer.
