Architecture and development
Fahrtenbuch uses a React frontend, a Node.js backend, PostgreSQL for persistence, Redis for background work, and Docker Compose for deployment.
The application repository separates frontend/, backend/, shared/, and api/. Database migrations are in backend/src/database/migrations/.
To develop locally, use Node.js 22 or later and a configured PostgreSQL instance:
git clone https://github.com/cheinisch/fahrtenbuch.git
cd fahrtenbuch
npm ci
npm run dev
Build and check API coverage using npm run build, node backend/scripts/check-api-files.js, and node backend/scripts/check-openapi-coverage.js.
See integration notes.
